When Inversion Point is applied to cobalt alloys, stents with dramatically lower profiles become possible without sacrificing other important front-line stent characteristics such as radial strength, vessel coverage, and visibility. The application of Inversion Point to nitinol alloys makes it possible to mount a nitinol stent on a balloon catheter, resulting in the world’s first balloon-expandable, crush resistant stent.
